Sewing has been a passionate hobby for me since the age of 8, and I have always loved ethnic inspirations, whether it is in architecture, clothing, jewelery, or art. After studying Product Design at Institut Teknologi Bandung, in 1998 I decided to sharpen my skills by building a career in Bali while simultaneously freelancing as a graphic designer. It was the perfect place to learn to be independent, be inspired by the island’s strong traditional culture, art, crafts and fashion business, and have ultimate fun at the same time. After gaining experience working in the garment and jewelry industries there, I eventually established my own company that produced ethnic-style uniforms for Bali’s hotels and restaurants. From there I learned the great potentials of local inspiration combined with functionality. So after 8 adventurous years in Bali, I returned to my hometown Bandung to open a new chapter in my life: create my own products while starting family life.
I could say that my ultimate mission is to reach out to the modern Indonesian women who want to wear clothes that are not necessarily traditional, but rich in Asian character. The details are intricate yet the styles are simple, so it is also wearable anywhere, anytime. I also felt obliged to contribute to the local industry, particularly due to the fact that in Bali, it was a pity to find out that most of the popular fashion brands are owned by expatriates.
